Dr Barr, MBBS, MRCPsych, BEng

Experience

When growing up, Rory was primarily interested in computers, and studied Computer Science at Queen's University, Belfast. It was during this time that Rory first experienced the impact of mental illness, when a close friend became depressed. This led him to reconsider his own career plans, realising that becoming a psychiatrist would be a good way to support people in need.

He then completing his medical degree at King's College London in 2012, before completing Foundation training in the South East region. He moved to Scotland to specialise in Psychiatry, training in Dundee and then Edinburgh. Dr Barr became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatry (having completed the required examinations successfully) in 2017, and completed training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2021, when he moved with his family to Berkshire, to begin work as a Consultant Psychiatrist.

In Berkshire, Dr Barr has been working in the NHS, leading the Children and Young Person's Eating Disorder Service, as well as working in the Wokingham Specialist Community Teams.

Dr Barr started working privately at the Cardinal Clinic in Windsor in 2023, before expanding to work in Berkshire Grove Hospital and Bridge Clinic in Maidenhead in 2025.
